Lawn care help (continues...)
Lawn care help #6 - tackle brown patches as soon as they
appear
Most people will try to do something about a
brown patch when it has enlarged to become an eyesore. This
will not do for the showpiece lawn. Lawn care help is needed if
the lawn has brown patches.Brown patches should be carefully
examined and control measures taken while they are still small
and have not yet reached the unsightly stage. The causes of
brown patches are many and varied.
Lawn care help #7 - roll - but only if
necessary
In the hands of the skilled lawn people and
lawn professionals, the roller plays a useful part in lawn
maintenance and lawn care help. In the hands of the unskilled
lawn persons, it will not be a lawn care help at all but will
do much more harm than good. The only time to roll is in
spring when the surface is dry and the soil is damp. If in
doubt, don't roll.
Lawn care help #8 - apply lime - but only
if necessary
Lime is rarely needed for lawn care help.
There are occasions in very acid soil when a light dressing of
limestone is beneficial, but adding lime to a lawn which does
not need it can lead to serious deterioration of the turf. If
in doubt, don't lime.
