Lawn care July and August
July lawn care
Mow the lawn regularly at the summer height, water the lawn if dry weather is prolonged and rake the lawn occasionally as recommended for June.
If clover, pearlwort and /or yarrow suddenly appear as lawn problems, use a good selective weed killer containing 2 or preferably 3 active ingredients. July is a little late for maximum lawn care effect, but these weeds should never be ignored.
Holidays can be a problem. If possible make lawn cutting arrangements in your absence if you are to be away for a fortnight or more.
August lawn care
August lawn care is the same general treatment as for July. If the grass is overgrown on your return from holiday, do not cut it at the summer height. Tip it at this first cut, then reduce the height of cut for subsequent mowings.
August is the last month of the year for weed killing and for feeding with a nitrogen rich fertilizer. Seed sowing can begin in late August.
