Lawn and Lawn Care

Lawn care January and February

January lawn care

In January, there is very little work to do this month in terms of lawn care on established lawn. You can remove fallen leaves from the lawn and make sure that your lawn area is nice and neat. However, you can do nothing to help the grass in the wet and cold weather.

  • Don't walk on the water logged or frozen turf though, you may do damage to your lawn.

January is a good time to have your lawn mower checked and get other lawn tools ready for use in the Spring. Turfing is possible during a fine spell.

February lawn care

In some places, the lawn care season may begin this month with the appearance of worm casts. Scatter them with a besom when they are dry.

  • Do not mow your lawn before March.
  • Finish turfing this month.

If you plan to sow seed, begin soil preparation at the end of February if the weather is suitable.
